The Student Council provides an opportunity for students to develop leadership skills and to take an active role in issues affecting students and the campus community. In an effort to promote student leadership opportunities and to further promote the development of students at Bellingham Technical College, the Student Council is encouraged and supported by the faculty, staff, administration and Board of Trustees of the College.
The goals of the Student Council are to:
- Provide a means of self governance for the students of Bellingham Technical College.
- Promote the educational, cultural and social welfare of the students of BTC.
- Guarantee an equal opportunity for student participation and representation.
- Foster cooperation among students, faculty, administration and the community.
Membership is open to all persons currently enrolled in professional technical degree or certificate programs at BTC. The Student Council consists of representatives and alternates elected from each occupational program. The duties of the program representatives are to represent their programs in all matters coming before the Council, to report Council activities to their respective programs, to serve on Council committees, and to set an example of school spirit, leadership and citizenship.
