Transferring Credit to Bellingham Technical College
Transfer credit is credit that is granted for course work completed at other regionally accredited colleges and universities. Only courses completed with an earned grade of C or better will be considered for equivalent transfer credit.
A course will be considered for transfer credit if it matches in content a course that is required for a BTC program. A chart of equivalent courses taken at select local Community and Technical colleges may be reviewed for a listing of courses determined to be equivalent to BTC’s general education courses. Evaluation Request processing for transfer credit review, course placement, or prerequisite approval, typically takes 10-14 business days and may take longer during peak registration periods.
A student requesting transfer credit must submit the Evaluation Request form and arrange for the BTC Admissions Office to receive an official, sealed transcript from the transfer institution. Please review the Instructions for submitting the Transfer Credit Request for specific directions. A course description of the equivalent course submitted with the request will assist in evaluating the content.
BTC considers credit from Tech Prep and course work from other accredited institutions. Date of completed course work may be considered. BTC also recognizes credit for prior learning, available only to currently enrolled students. Prior learning credit will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Prerequisite Course Approval
Students may enroll in a course(s) at Bellingham Technical College as offered in the BTC quarterly course schedule whether or not a student has completed the admissions process or been accepted into a BTC program. For enrollment into a course which has a prerequisite requirement, a student must submit the Evaluation Request form specifying the class they want to enter and arrange for the BTC Admissions Office to receive an official, sealed transcript from the transfer institution.
Upon evaluation students will receive the completed evaluation request form by mail and will be notified by phone of approval or denial into the course.
