Bellingham Technical College’s Board of Trustees has selected Dr. Thomas C. Eckert to serve as the next president of Bellingham Technical College.
Dr. Eckert currently serves as the Vice President of College Services for Nicolet Area Technical College in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, serving since 1998. He earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Seattle University, a M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Central Washington University, and a B.S. in Psychology from Washington State University.
Bellingham Tech’s job opening was the only one Eckert applied for, and it was the first interview he’s had in 14 years. “I applied specifically to this job and this institution and this community,” he said. “From what I read it was a great place and when I came to interview it was confirmed 10 times over.”
“Our board feels that Dr. Thomas Eckert is a perfect fit to listen, learn and lead Bellingham Technical College to the highest level of professional technical education” said Steve Koch, Chair of BTC’s Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees passed a unanimous motion to offer Dr. Eckert the position of President of Bellingham Technical College, to begin prior to Fall Quarter.
Bellingham Technical College is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, and offers over 50 associate degree and certificate options providing professional technical education to support local and regional industry workforce needs.
