The Hospital Employee Education and Training (HEET) Program Grant is awarded by the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) to fund regional labor, management, workforce, and college partnerships designed to create innovative training programs for careers in nursing and other high-demand health care fields for current hospital employees. The grant is awarded on a yearly basis, and the partnerships are meant to eventually be self-sustaining.
The Moving Forward Project is a regional partnership composed of the 3 colleges (Bellingham Technical College, Whatcom Community College, and Skagit Valley College), 5 hospitals (Peace Health/Saint Joseph Medical Center, United General Hospital, Skagit Valley Hospital, Island Hospital, and Whidbey General Hospital), 3 labor partner (SEIU Healthcare 1199NW, UFCW21, and WSNA), the Northwest Workforce Council, and Northwest Alliance for Health Care Skills. In addition to the awarded amount from the HEET Project, we leverage funds from all partners plus 3 DOL grants to support our initiatives.
