Sam started his career as an electronics technician at Hughes Aircraft Company in 1972 after finished his electronics diploma. In 1975, Sam completed his BSEE and joined Rockwell International as an electrical engineer working in the field of satellite communication system. In 1977, Sam joined IBM and worked as a manufacturing engineer, development engineer and engineering manager. His work experiences are in the areas of; thin-film, laser and optical measurements, PC development and server system performance. Sam received numerous awards from IBM and they were: First Patent Application Invention Achievement Award, the Outstanding Achievement Award for Technical Leadership in Test Engineering, the First Plateau Invention Achievement Award, and the First Plateau Authors’ Recognition Award. Sam also received one US patent and one pending for patent with his work at IBM. Sam has been an adjunct faculty teaching mathematics and electronics at Palm Beach Community College in Florida, and Wake Technical Community College in North Carolina in the past 17 years. Prior to joining Bellingham Technical College as a faculty member in 2005, he was a full-time faculty member in the mathematics department at Durham Technical Community College in North Carolina.
