Typical Tasks Specific tasks typically required of a legal administrative assistant include:
? Preparing legal papers and correspondence, such as summonses, complaints, motions, and subpoenas under the supervision of an attorney;
? Keeping track of billing records;
? Performing secretarial duties such as answering the telephone, filing, greeting visitors, etc.;
? Reviewing legal journals and assisting in other ways with legal research, such as verifying quotes and citations used in legal briefs; and
? Using knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documents to the advantage of attorneys.
