What Kinds of Classes Do These Programs Involve?

Process Technology students learn about the process safety and personal safety in processing operations along with the government safety & environmental regulation from Federal EPA, OSHA and State agencies. The students learn about processing equipment like pumps and compressors, computer simulations of boiler and distillation and fundamentals of physics and chemistry. The graduates also learn about interpersonal relations, team work and economics of an operating plant.

Instrumentation and Control students learn the basic knowledge and critical thinking in the field of Instrumentation and Control; how to design, build, and test functioning electronic circuits, basic troubleshooting skills and how to use computer application skills in industrial setting.

Electronics (Manufacturing) students will take classes in electrical/electronic safety, direct current, alternating current, basic test equipment, semiconductors, op-amps, digital systems, and troubleshooting along with training in manufacturing technology.

Electro Mechanical Technology students learn the fundamentals of trade and personal safety along with interpersonal relations and working in team environment. The program has two main tracks in electrical maintenance and mechanical maintenance. However, the students can choose different courses to plan their own degree in different subject areas like motor controls, programmable controls, residential wiring, mechanical maintenance of pumps, equipment, bearings, belts and conveyors, welding, rigging and hydraulics and pneumatics, rigging and welding.

All students in these programs will learn to demonstrate competency in oral and written communication and interpersonal relations.

The Center supports the network of technical and community colleges in Washington State in providing quality process and control technology training for their students and the best possible workforce for the processing industries in their area.
